Our history

For almost 20 years, we have helped companies keep their products sustainable and compliant. See a timeline of our history below.

1996

Start as a communications agency under the name Krug und Petersen GmbH, expanding into lobbying activities for environmental legislation in 2003.

2003

Expanding into lobbying activities for environmental legislation in 2003.

2006

With the expansion into the business areas of lobbying and product compliance, a reorganisation of the company began in 2006 with the subsidiaries 1WEEE Services GmbH (focus on EPR-related legislation such as the EU WEEE Directive) and K&L GmbH (with a focus on product-related requirements such as REACH and copyright levies).

2013

Merger into 1cc GmbH with head office in Holzgerlingen and foundation of our subsidiary 1cc Corp. and WEEElogic GmbH together with Ecologic.

4Square Return GmbH is a holding of medium-sized service providers with joint headquarters in Holzgerlingen, located between Stuttgart and Tübingen. It comprises 1cc GmbH and TechProtect GmbH, with its subsidiary WEEElogic GmbH and 1cc Corp. (USA).

In particular, we are commissioned by companies in the electronics industry to operate multinational take-back and recycling programs for their products, combining the fulfilment of legal obligations with sales promotion measures and strengthening customer loyalty.
In addition, we advise more than 200 industrial customers on take-back obligations resulting from the legally anchored “Extended Producer Responsibility”, e.g. for used equipment (WEEE), but also for batteries and packaging. Further focal points of our consulting activities are the legally compliant handling of specific product requirements, e.g. with regard to substance restrictions (RoHS) or eco-design and energy efficiency of electrical and electronic products (ErP).
