The EU POPs Regulation aims to protect human health and the environment by restricting and eliminating the production, use, and disposal of persistent organic pollutants (POPs). POPs are hazardous chemicals that remain in the environment for long periods, accumulate in living organisms, and can have harmful effects on ecosystems and human health. These substances are globally banned, triggering severe consequences when found in products. This regulation applies across various sectors, including agriculture, electronics, and manufacturing, impacting many companies within the EU. By enforcing strict control measures, the POPs Regulation seeks to reduce and eventually eliminate the environmental and health risks posed by these substances.
